Job Scope: The Junior Buyer is responsible for assisting the Buyer in the planning, budgeting, purchasing and merchandising of the products, ranges, brands, within the Gaelic Games, Rugby and Soccer departments.


The Junior Buyer will collaborate closely with the Buyer to plan, develop, and deliver commercially successful product ranges from leading international sports brands, including Nike, adidas, Canterbury, O’Neill’s, and Umbro. The role also supports the growth and performance of key sporting partnerships—such as Irish Rugby, Connacht Rugby, Mayo GAA, Tipperary GAA, and League of Ireland clubs—helping to maximise their commercial potential across all product categories.


This role is based in our Parkmore offices, Galway.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse sales, trends, stock and margin for each category and brand within relevant departments

  • Monitor sales for fast/slow selling articles and take necessary actions. Present all findings in weekly meetings with Buyer or Buying Manager  

  • Carry out reductions, store transfers and general stock management

  • Compile merchandising guides and manage allocations of stock to our stores

  • Ensure that order reconciliations are completed by suppliers for all orders placed

  • Prepare for and attending Supplier and internal meetings

  • General Administration


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:


  • A passion for competitive sport, sports culture, and retail

  • 1 - 2 years retail experience

  • A Qualification in Fashion/Design/Business would be advantageous

  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of in-house systems, report generation, Word and Excel in particular

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills and ability to communicate, both orally and written, in a concise and effective manner

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships with suppliers, design teams and fellow colleagues

  • Proven experience of taking initiative and managing projects through to completion

  • Proactive, creative, numerically strong and analytical with a desire to continuously drive the business

  • Team player but also capable of self-motivation and setting personal standards

  • Full Drivers Licence
